Juelz Santana and Fivio Foreign had some words for Lil Yachty after he made some controversial comments about New York City fashion.
The Atlanta rapper faced backlash after criticizing NYC fashion on a recent episode of his podcast A Safe Place.
“Everyone used to just kinda copy Atlanta. You said it yourself,” Yachty told his guest Cash Cobain. “You just said even like the influence was extremely heavy from Atlanta. … As far as style goes, I don’t think it’s shit going on when it comes to New York fashion.”
On Tuesday, Juelz and Fivio addressed Yachty’s comments on their social media pages. Juelz expressed disbelief that Yachty would claim trendsetters come from Atlanta, emphasizing that NYC has been home to many cultural influencers, including his Dipset crew.
“WE all Love Atl But did @lilyachty SAY say the flyes [n****s] N the Most TRENDSETTERS Came from ALT WOW Much love bro,” Juelz wrote before adding more in the caption of his post where he mentions NYC fashion heads such as A$AP Rocky, Fabolous, Jim Jones, and more.
“No luv lost br but, NEVER MIND!!!! PS @souljaboy I Don’t wWant No💨 y’all got it @jimjonescapo they tryint to erase us from history I’m not even gonn name up @asaprocky @myfabolouslife @ceoslow @vado_mh @bloodyosiris @soberyungwalter @whodecideswar @murderbravado,” said Juelz. “It not one of the top it 1 On is 1 it NOT Best black High black Fashion Brands in the Game I’m a jus Stop Hear cuz N**** jus Say What they want nowadays 1 more thing must the n**** out there came from….NYC.”
Fivio, on the other hand, kept it simple and questioned how Yachty could even think that someone from Atlanta dresses better than a New Yorker, especially when Yachty himself was wearing an outfit inspired by the Big Apple.
“How yatchy say ATL dress better then ny w a whole NY fit,” he tweeted.
Following backlash online to his comments, Yachty cleared the air and explained that he would never disrespect New York culture, while adding that Wu-Tang and Dipset are fashion GOATs.
“Now when we talking about the history of fashion, I would never disrespect New York culture. I love New York culture,” he said.
