Kid Cudi is crediting the oft-sudden onset of the “Cud Life” in response to a pair of recently resurfaced photos of a pre-fame Lil Yachty.
As seen in a few inevitable screenshots below, the influence of Cudi, who earlier this year announced his engagement to menswear designer Lola Abecassis Sartore, was mentioned repeatedly by fans in connection with a pair of images showing Yachty when he was younger. Cudi seemed to agree with remarks that his own earlier years seemingly played a pivotal role in Yachty’s style at this time, telling fans, simply, “Da Cud Life hits u sometimes haha.”
Elsewhere, Cudi laughed at fans’ playful remarks about the photos, including a nod to Plain Pat’s producer tag.
Cudi and Yachty’s careers have long been intertwined, with the former having previously praised the latter as the ideal example of what he had long been hoping to see among the generation of artists he influenced, especially with the first two entries in his Man on the Moon trilogy. In an interview with Zane Lowe earlier this year, Cudi pointed to Yachty’s “crazy” range and their chemistry together in the studio.
“It reminds me [of] what I hoped for in the next generation,” he said at the time. “It reminds me of the type of shit I was on when I was younger and just trying to explore and just be different and not have people knowing my next move.”
The admiration is mutual, not to mention fruitful. Back in 2021, Yachty revealed that he played a key role in getting Cudi on the final version of the artist formerly known as Kanye West’s Donda track “Moon.”
