Get excited, losers. One Prime Day wasn’t enough. They had to make it two days. Then, that wasn’t enough. They had to make a whole ‘nother thing. They call it Prime Big Deals Day, I call it Prime Day II, some call it October Prime Day or something lame like that. Regardless, it’s a great time to buy little things you know you’ll need, like, perhaps, an electric razor.

Personally, I thought electric razors were a little bit dated. I thought, in 2024, that the two paths were beard trimmer or shaving cream plus razor. But alas, working this job, I’ve realized a lot of y’all are electric-razor guys, and I’ve had to try a few out for the Esquire Grooming Awards. After that, I haven’t gotten a taste for electric razors—my shit still needs an old-fashioned shave—but I know which ones are good. I also know how much they cost. So believe me when I say this is as good a deal as you’ll see on grooming gear all year. Buy low; it’s economics.

Do I Want an Electric Razor or a Beard Trimmer?

The people who love electric razors love the convenience. It’s that simple. They’re not really better than a traditional shave, but they are definitely easier. A straight razor, safety razor, or disposable will give you a closer shave. But the electric version is easier.

On the other side of the electric hair-management coin are beard trimmers. If I’m shaping or dry-shaving, I prefer a trimmer. You can just do more with styles and scruff. Better than electric shaving, if you ask me. But the choice is only a stylistic one.

Do I Have to be an Amazon Prime Member to Shop on Prime Day?

Are you not already? I’m buying everything on Amazon these days. As much as I hate the look and feel of the website, the user experience is unbeatable. I want toilet paper and sparkling water. Jeff Bezos and his indentured servants get it to me within 12 hours.

But yes, you must have an Amazon Prime membership to get these discounts. Becoming a member is easy and costs $14.99 a month (or $139 a year). You can also sign up for a 30-day free trial that aligns with the sale. And we’ll let you in on a little secret: If you’re a student or part of the Prime Access Program, you can get the membership at an even cheaper rate.
